Conditions: Diffuse Distal Disease
I had an MI in 2001 and unstable angina for many years after that. I recently had a recuurrence of chest pain and after a couple of long-awaited Angiograms had 2 stents fitted in LAD and OM1 in February 2013. I still had chest pain following the stents so after another angiogram with RADI pressure wire last week, they fitted another 2 stents. One of which is half-way along the previous stent in LAD. I was rather concerned to see a footnote on my medical report to the effect that I propbably have Diffuse Distal Disease.
Nothing comes up from a search on the BHF site but on the internet they say that DDD 'indicates when the entire portion of the artery delivering blood to the muscle becomes blocked'. As I understand it, this is in the narrower section of the artery where they can't put stents and cannot be improved even with a by-pass.
They have put me on Monosorb nitrate tabs 60mgs, in addition to usual long-term meds and Clopidogrel, which I imagine is supposed to help open up these vessels.
Does anyone know anything about this condition?
