Treatments: Getting Licence back after ICD
I'm just looking for some advice regarding driving with heart failure. My husband was diagnosed with Dilated Cardiomyopathy in 2015 and had an ICD fitted that year. After 6 months he applied to get his licence back but was refused on the grounds that his condition was not under control. We think this relates to arrhythmia as he developed AF after the ICD was fitted as he had a lead displacement. He does still have some arrhythmia but it is considered by his doctors to be controlled but has just been turned down again for his licence. We have come across many people with ICD and very few seem to lose their licence. He is only 42 and it is having a massive impact on his job and his independence though obviously we would not want to put him or anyone else at risk on the roads if he is not fit to drive. Has anyone been through the appeal process to get a licence back as his consultant fully supports his safety to drive
