Symptoms: Heart Out of Sync
I was diagnosed with a bicuspid aortic valve and right bundle branch block back in July of last year. Since then I've been doing everything I can to minimise my chances of getting palpitations (no caffeine, limiting my alcohol intake - I'm now the most boring student on campus!) but for the last month or so I've been having the weirdest sensation. It's almost like my heart goes out of sync or into spasm. It lasts about 5 seconds and it leaves me gasping for breath as if I've just been underwater. I don't know whether it is caused by:
(a) The delay of my right ventricle beating in comparison to the rest of my heart,
(b) Some kind of slush back from my aortic valve not closing properly.
To begin with it only happened if I was lying on my back, or slightly twisted onto my left side, however now it's happening whilst being sat up and it happened whilst standing tonight. I'm not taking any medication so I know that isn't the cause.
My check-up isn't for another few months. Has anyone been in a similar situation/have similar symptoms?
