As hopefully some of you already know, we've recently launched our exciting campaign to get Emergency Life Support (ELS) skills taught to every child before they leave school. What do you think of the campaign so far?

We have our online petition and a template email for you to send to your polticians, find out how to join the campaign.

We believe that every child should know how to save a life and have the skills to know what to do in an emergency. It can be the difference between life and death. Christopher saved his Mum's life because he knew what he needed to do when she collapsed - watch a video of his story.

Could you help us share the campaign and get even more support to persuade decision makers that this is important to us? Have you already been helping to promote the campaign and how?

I'm really keen to get involved with this and have now set up a Facebook Cause

'Emergency Life Support in Schools Campaign'

There are 40 members on there at the minute; I post it periodically on the Facebook British Heart Foundation Page  to encourage people to join.

It's something that I feel a great affinity for; following helping to give CPR with a work colleague last year. We were successful and managed to resucitate the person involved. As an ex-nurse I'd never had to perform CPR during my whole nursing career, but the training never leaves you! Following the incident. We discussed how essential it would be to have CPR taught in schools as part of the National Curriculum. We had a go locally at gauging interest in this and asked who might be able to help, with no real support, so this campaign is very timely.

I have had a reply from my local MP, following an email I sent to him once I'd signed the petition . . . he was in agreement with the campaign and will be taking it further.

Great to see you here Kath!

We have lots coming soon, and next week we have another update on ELS. You can be first t know as we will be updating our community first!

Thanks so much for all your efforts so far, it really has been inspiring. Together we can make sure we push so that every child leaves school knowing how to safe a life.

Hi Kath!

Thanks for all your help with the campaign so far, having supportive people like you is so invaluable when we're trying to spread the word. It's great that you've got your MP on side as well - I'd really like to see the response they sent you - if you could send it in to campaigns@bhf.org.uk that would be lovely!

Like Roberto said, we have more exiciting activity coming up for the campaign soon so watch this space.

Thanks for the updates, sounds exciting!  I've sent a copy of the letters as an attachment today. My scanner's only ok-ish so hope you can see them alright.

Best wishes

Kath
