Hi, i have been diagnosed with Multi focal atrial tachycardia, and atrial fibrillation. This was diagnosed as a result about two to three years of feeling very tired and having palpitations. I had several halter loop recordings done, some for 24 hours and others for a week. It became obvious that I needed more investigations, and as a result of a planned holiday I needed answers. I made an appointment at a private clinic, and was advised to have an Internal loop recorder fitted, which was duly done on the NHS. (I have to say that the NHS have bee brilliant) This was inserted just below my collarbone and was in place for three years, and I had a check up every three months. I also had an Electrical Phisiology srudy done and this was how the diagnosis was made. I was put on Sotaol 80mg twice a day, which seemed to work most of the time. However I am now getting symptoms quite regularly, and my medication has now increased to 120mg twice daily, which isn't really controlling the symptoms. I can have symptoms anywhere from half an hour to seven hours. This is becoming really depressing, because I don't feel confident to go out anywhere on my own. I have been put on the waiting list for catherer abaltion, but have a six month wait. This doesn't only affect your own life but also affects partners, because you just have to wait for it to settle. I am seriously considering having the ablation done privately, BUT, would be interested if anyone has had this done, and what costs are involved, as I do appriciate it will be expensive. If anyone can help I would be very grateful.
