What’s your favourite way to enjoy the countryside?
It’s freezing cold outside at the moment, but there’s reason to be cheerful – spring will be here before you know it.
What are your favourite ways to enjoy the British countryside? I’m thinking about active things such as walking, cycling, sailing, even flying a kite. Why do you enjoy them – and have you got a favourite place to do them? It doesn’t have to be open countryside, it could be any green space like your local park.
We’ll put a selection of your responses in a future issue of Heart Matters magazine, so post here and you could be sharing your ideas with our 1.2 million readers!
I agree with Skittler about the walking. You can't beat getting out into the proper countryside and going for a long walk. You can choose your own route and pace to suit your abilities and can experience some truely beautiful scenery and wildlife. This country offers some outstanding walking areas, whether you want mountains, hills, riverbank walks, rolling farming land or even disused railway routes, there is something for everyone. Personally my favourites are the Southwest Coast path and Snowdonia National Park. I love the peace, quiet and the scenery is stunning. I'm setting my sights on Crib Goch at some point in the future but need to build up the courage for that one. Whatever you choose to do, don't forget your camera.
Yep. Walking is great exercise and I get into the countryside quite often, near to home. I try to do my weekly quota and have started the Health Walks which are great, I'm a member of a walking group and am doing the South Downs Walk in a week's time with the BHF. I have a new walking buddy and take my camera out - I'm doing a challenge "A Year in Pictures" which means I take a photo every day! All of this gets me out into the countryside and I find the more I do the better I feel about myself.

Best way to enjoy the countryside is to do what I do, live in it! Walking is best, so you get to see what's going on and hear the sounds all around.
