Just found this site recently, and joined yesterday. I am in my late 60's. I won't write my age down because I would lie!!! I am a wife, mother, grandmother, retired teacher, do voluntary work to get out of the house, but like Shirley Valentine, "Have lived such a little life".
I had rheumatic fever as a child, and this affected my heart. Complications set in when I was about 40, when I was told I had a heart block, and my heart was very slow and stopping on occasion so they put a pacemaker in. This lasted 14 years before being replaced, and the second one lasted 7. When they were putting in the third, the technician asked me how old I was and said "Well this one should see you out"!!!!! Diplomatic? Aye, right! These past two years my health has declined, and i have been told I never had a heart block, I have atrial fibrillation. I have leaking valves and heart failure. The atrial valve was replaced last October, but there are still two leaking. So? One day at a time ..............
